Green Restaurant Opens New Phoenix Location
Chef Damon Brasch, owner and chef of Green New American Vegetarian restaurant, in Tempe, has opened a new location, also called Green, in downtown Phoenix, as well as another restaurant next door, Nami, that serves coffees and baked goods. They both serve 100 percent vegan cuisine and are housed in beautiful, historic architecture that employed recycled materials in its renovation.
Brasch says, “The Green menu is exactly the same as the Tempe location, and Nami is where we make our signature ice cream and coffees. Our tSoynami dessert is similar to a Blizzard’s soft-serve ice cream mixed with cookies and cakes. Plus, ours are the only vegan baked goods in the city.” Daily menu specials vary, depending on the season.
Green is not a typical vegan restaurant, but a crossover restaurant for people who are open-minded and want to try something a little interesting. Brasch states, “My inspiration behind creating the menu items, my main goal, is to be very flavorful. Food and the communal aspect of sitting down to a meal has always been a celebration. We offer seasonal vegetables and gain inspiration by going to the local farmers’ market to discover what’s happening and what’s available. That’s the way we honor that tradition.”
Original location: 2240 N. Scottsdale Rd., Ste. 8, Tempe, 480-941-9003. New location: 2022 N. 7th St., Phoenix. 602-258-1870. For more information visit GreenVegetarian.com.
