Yoga for Veterans at Multiplicity Enterprises

Based on the principles of Warriors at Ease, Yoga for Veterans, a trauma-sensitive class that supports recovery and resiliency by building strength, flexibility and stability in body, mind and spirit, is being offered by Multiplicity Enterprises. Classes are held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays (women only); and 6:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays.

Yoga eases the transition from the battlefield to civilian life. Skills that were honed in the military such as focus and awareness can now serve to calm the nervous system by working with the breath and mindful movement. Studies show this helps with a variety of challenges, such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, military sex trauma and chronic pain.

With consistent practice, participants become more resilient and better able to cope with whatever situation presents itself. This class is suitable for all levels and modifications are offered for those with physical challenges.

First four classes free, then $10/class. Limited to six people per class; preregistration is required at least two hours before class begins. Location: 2045 S. Vineyard Ave., Ste. 139, Mesa. To register, call Kim Carter at 253-549-5342 or email [email protected].
