Tour the Coops of the Rich and Famous Chickens November 16

Tour de Coops, the Valley's most unique, self-guided “home tour” of urban chicken coops, takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., November 16, sponsored by the nonprofit Valley Permaculture Alliance. A companion free, family-friendly sustainability festival will help promote green living, permaculture and chicken keeping in our community. The festival will be held in the heart of Phoenix at PHX Renews, a community space managed by Keep Phoenix Beautiful.

On the Tour, visitors can share coop design tips and chicken keeping secrets and discuss other sustainable practices with members of the community that are already keeping chickens in their backyards. Last year, the Tour featured more than 25 coops and hosted 900 participants. Proceeds from the Tour benefit Valley Permaculture Alliance in their mission to educate and inspire sustainable urban living in the desert Southwest.

Tickets for the tour are $15 advance/$20 onsite. Admission to the festival is free. Location: NE corner of Central Ave. and Indian School Rd. For more information, call 602-403-1859 or visit TourDeCoops.vpaaz.org or Facebook.com/TourDeCoops.
