Saintly Relics on Display

An exposition of sacred relics focusing on the feminine face of Christianity, with an emphasis on saintly women of the 19th and 20th centuries, will take place from November 9 through 14 at the Shrine of Holy Wisdom, in Tempe. It has been the belief from the earliest days of the Christian dispensation that these physical objects are direct links to the sacred. The collection includes Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Bernadette Soubirou, the great seer of Lourdes.

Nearly 70 relics on display range from miniscule bone fragments or some other portion of the body to strands of hair or small swatches of clothing which they wore. They are in their majority, those of women that consecrated their lives to the practice of virtue within the confines of cloistered religious communities or congregations.

Location: 5025 S. Ash Ave., Ste. B-15, Tempe. For more information, call Fr. Jorge at 480-219-9633 or email [email protected].
