Peterson Physical Therapy Relocates in Scottsdale

A pioneer in craniosacral therapy in the Valley for 23 years at her McCormick Ranch office, Mary Peterson has relocated her physical therapy practice. The new office is located at 15849 North 71st Street, Suite 100, north of the Kierland Shopping Center, in Scottsdale, to better serve her clients.

Peterson’s sessions focus on bodywork and educating patients in self-care for a spectrum of conditions, including chronic back and joint pain, incontinence, indigestion and pain related to scar tissue.

Peterson received her conventional physical therapy training at Northwestern University Medical School, in Chicago, and then pursued continued training with the Upledger Institute, specializing in visceral manipulation. This form of treatment focuses on gentle manual therapy relating to the internal organs of the body, such as the liver, intestines and lungs. According to Dr. Jean-Pierre Barral, the French osteopathic physician who developed this technique, up to 90 percent of musculoskeletal problems, such as spinal alignment and muscle pain, have tension around the internal organs as a component of the problem.
