Herbalism Course Begins May 22 in Mesa

The SW Herb Shop, in Mesa, is offering a five-week course that starts May 22, leading to an herbal certification that will allow students to learn all about the individual herbal properties, learn how to select herbs and make proper blends to help with various conditions, gain an in-depth understanding of the healing benefits of herbal remedies and examine each body system and how herbs have been traditionally used to heal and maintain proper health.

Pupils will also receive a 300-plus page workbook filled with many herbal formulations, herbal protocols and a Materia Medica to take home and use long after the class ends. Hands-on experience is gained in basic medicine-making techniques, including teas, syrups, capsules and tinctures. A certificate is awarded upon completion of all modules. As an added bonus, at each class, learn how to incorporate herbs into your daily foods, including recipes and preparation demos.

Herbalist and course instructor Kathleen Gould has practiced herbal medicine and studied with internationally recognized herbalists such as Rosemary Gladstar, Tieroana Lowdog, M.D., James Duke, Ph.D., Michael Tierra, David Hoffman, Patch Adams and Susun Weed.
