Learn about Water Harvesting at Root Phoenix

A unique class in Water Harvesting, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., May 11, at Root Phoenix, will discuss concepts integral to rainwater, greywater (used household) and stormwater harvesting. Learn about the pros and cons of different systems to conserve water at home, including safety tips and sustainability issues. Cost is $15.

Laundry to Landscape is a hands-on water harvesting class, held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., May 18, that deals with desert gardening and landscaping needs. Rainwater and greywater harvesting offer resources we can utilize to build an oasis in the desert. Participants will install a laundry-to-landscape greywater system at a private home, which diverts used wash water from a clothes washer to trees or other landscape plants. Cost is $39.

Teacher Greg Peterson is a green living and sustainability innovator who started the Urban Farm in 2001 (UrbanFarm.org), a real-world environmental showcase home in the heart of Phoenix.
