Rekha Shah, M.D., M.D.(H), specializing in gastroenterology, has joined Martha M. Grout, M.D., M.D.(H), Deborah M. Murphy, PA-C, Krystine T. Nguyen, NMD, at the practice at the Arizona Center for Advanced Medicine.
Shah, who is board certified in gastroenterology, internal medicine and medical acupuncture, practices integrative medicine with a focus on gastrointestinal conditions. She is licensed in the state of Arizona by the allopathic medical board and the Board of Homeopathic and Integrated Medicine Examiners. Shah has pursued training in functional medicine and applies its fundamentals in management of chronic complex diseases.
Shah says: "Functional medicine is a new way of thinking about patient care. Allopathic medicine is great for dealing with trauma and acute illness, but falls short when dealing with chronic, complex conditions. With the knowledge and tools of allopathic medicine at my disposal, I decided to explore other disciplines to gain a more holistic understanding of how and why diseases occur and how I can help my patients improve their health and vitality."
