Capitol Walk Supports Aid for Mental Illness

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Valley of the Sun, serving all of Maricopa County, will hold their 11th annual Valley Walk in downtown Phoenix by the State Capitol Building on October 17 to bring the community together. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk commences at 9:30 a.m.

With the help of community partners, people that attend the walk are able to learn about providers of mental and physical health services and what they offer, all in one location. The walk is designed to raise awareness and money to continue the work in Maricopa County for those in need.

NAMI provides educational classes by trained volunteers with life experience. Signature programs include Family to Family, for family members of those living with mental illness, and NAMI Basics, a class for families and caregivers of children and adolescents with mental health issues.

Location: 1700 W. Washington St., Phoenix. For more information about registration and contests, email [email protected] or visit http://www.namivalleywalk.orgnamivalleywalk.org.
